The card that speaks 40 languages
What was needed:
Create a way of telling prospective funders at a humanitarian conference, who EPIC (Emergency Preparedness Integration Centre) are: a World Food Program charity who provide emergency communication networks around the world to communities affected by crisis.
At conferences people are accustomed to being inundated with brochures and business cards, as a result it’s hard to make a memorable, lasting impact. The objective was to give out a business card that was a ‘conversation starter’ and made such an impression people would actually want to keep it.
Peoples interactions with the representatives of the charity needed to be memorable and thought provoking – so the best idea was a business card that interacts with the multilingual delegates of the conference to communicate EPIC’s modus operandi.
As a result of the multilingual business card, conversations with potential funders and patrons were started in a way that was personal and communicated the infectiveness of EPIC’s service. This quote from EPIC’s Communication Analyst, Mariko Hall sums it up nicely: “As a result, we made additional contacts with the card, including international vendors, educational institutions, humanitarian organizations and governmental bodies.”
